our why

the inspiration

Inspired by working with people living with dementia, who were gradually losing access to their memories and ability to express themselves, we realised how important it is for anyone with a life of memories, wisdom and character behind them, and a determination to be known and understood in the future, even when they can no longer speak or express themselves.

Imagine an online service that helps you capture your past, your present and things for your future?

guiding principles

Everybody deserves…

  • to be known and understood
  • enhanced quality of life, especially when health or circumstances impact it otherwise
  • to be remembered for who they are and the value of their life
  • tobe connected, to family, friends and support
  • the right to self-determination, to have their wishes and intentions known, understood and followed, especially when they can no longer express them
  • privacy, to confidently capture media and control who sees it, or maintain absolute privacy
  • to leave a legacy of knowledge, experience and identity

the founders

Scott conceived it, Richard built it and together they’ve found the pure joy of building something special. Their complementary skills and aligned care and passion are solving the startup challanges to make Reminu a working reality.

Scott Oxford

Scott is a partner in the creative agency New Word Order and serves as its Head of Strategy and Creative.

He was conducting focus groups with people living with dementia, and their carers, and was struck by the unfairness of diseases that limit life and the ability to express oneself, and dreamed of a platform that the participants could use to capture who they are and have been, and their dreams, hopes and wishes for the future.

His business and life partner Suzanne Oxford is actively involved in Reminu, which has been built as an innovation activity of the agency they co-own.

Richard Behan Howell

Richard is a software engineer and Agritech startup founder with a passion for using what he can do to help improve the lives of people.

Richard joined the Reminu journey through helping Scott build a small test prototype, but forgot to stop and lead the development of the platform and codeveloped strategy, systematically solving each and every problem or brick wall Scott uncovers.

Richard and Scott have been friends for a few decades, with Scott officiating at Richard’s wedding to Renee (Scott’s friend since year 9 and the reason Scott and Richard met in the first place.)

partners

Reminu exists to authentically meet the needs of different groups of people with different needs. To do this, deep audience understanding is required and we value the subject matter experts and frontline workers who connect us meaningfully with different user groups and inform development of the different guided journeys.
